World Training Centre, Bottesford, Leicestershire Schlumberger Oil Exploration is a global company. Their worldwide training facility at Bottesford in Leicestershire is a dramatic modernistic building, providing training facilities for Gas and Oil Rig drilling engineers from around the world. The requirement was to considerably expand the existing training facilities with the provision of a new 1500mē two storey steel framed building with concrete floors, profiled insulated steel roof system, facing brick and aluminium double glazed curtain walling. The new build was designed to house ten technology training rooms, large open communal areas, lifts and toilet facilities. Hands on training is now carried out in a new 750mē fully equipped workshop complete with overhead crane facility, mechanical and electrical laboratories and a workshop. In refurbishing the existing buildings, a new dining room was created and major upgrade of existing office areas undertaken. External recreation areas and new vehicle parking were added to complete the scheme. One of the main criteria for the project was that full operation of the existing training facility had to be maintained throughout the build programme. To that end, works were planned, discussed and integrated to ensure they impacted as little as possible throughout the duration of the 21 week construction project. |
